JOB DESCRIPTION

MLG has an immediate opening for a Sr Litigation Associate. Duties include:

  • Preparing cases for jury trials.
  • Attending hearings in state and federal court.
  • Taking and defending depositions.
  • Attending mediations.
  • Working with expert witnesses.
  • Attending focus groups.
  • Drafting law and motion.
  • Drafting all trial-related pleadings, including jury instructions, motions in limine and trial briefs.
  • Working closely in a team environment.
  • Strategic case planning.
  • Working with paralegals and support staff.
  • Legal research.
  • Drafting and responding to discovery.
  • Managing document production.
  • Drafting and responding to meet and confer letters.
  • Communicating with opposing counsel and clients.

Requirements

  • Credentials from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail.
  • Achieve a high level of productivity with great accuracy.
  • Multi-task in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Supervisors – The principal of the firm.

Status – Full time, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This position requires the ability to work evenings and weekends, which often cannot be predicted in advance. The position may also require travel to hearings for matters located both inside and outside of California.

Location – Beautiful office environment in the Segerstrom Performing Arts Center, across from South Coast Plaza, in Costa Mesa, California.

JOB DESCRIPTION

An HR Generalist is responsible for creating, updating, and applying all HR policies and company guidelines and making sure they adhere to standards and laws initiated by authorities. Some of their typical duties include:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Creating a recruitment plan and assisting with the recruitment process by identifying candidates, facilitating phone/in-person interviews, and conducting reference check.
  • Generating official internal documents such as offer letters, leave of absence, etc…
  • Creating onboarding plans and educating newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures, and regulations.
  • Assisting with all internal and external HR-related matters.
  • Maintaining physical and digital files for employees and their documents, benefits, and attendance records.
  • Creating employee engagement plans, getting necessary budget approval, and initiating activities.
  • Evaluating employee performance and appraising their pay scale accordingly.
  • Manage the organization’s employee database and prepare reports.
  • Taking appropriate disciplinary action against employees who violate rules and regulations and addressing employee grievances.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Jury Consultant advises and assists the litigators throughout the proceedings. Jury consultants research each potential juror to gather information about their background, lifestyle, career, family, and attitudes toward issues pertinent to the case. They use this information to create juror profiles, giving their client an idea about the jurors more likely to vote in their favor. Once jury selection ends, consultants give the attorney suggestions on how to present his or her arguments at trial. The consultant will also hold a mock trial using substitute jurors. The gives the attorney an idea on how the jury will vote.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Research the jurors’ backgrounds.
• Create juror profiles.
• Assist with jury selection and voir dire—the questioning of prospective jurors.
• Conduct focus groups and mock trials.
• Conduct pretrial research.
• Gather and analyze demographic data.
• Perform statistical analyses.
• Draft analytic reports.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to read non-verbal cues, and an understanding an understanding of what influences human behavior, motivation, and decision-making.
• Organized and neat.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong telecommunication skills.
• Must be able to read people.
• Provide insight into juror’s body language and behavior at trial.
• Coach witnesses for the best possible presentation of facts under questioning.
