High School Scholarship

Winners Announcement

MLG is proud to present the winners of its annual “Never Stop Learning” scholarship, aimed at assisting Orange County high school seniors with their journey into higher education. First place winner, Maverick Shuck, will receive a $1,000 for college, a year-long mentorship with MLG principal Jonathan Michaels and the opportunity to attend a civil jury trial. Second place winner, Isabella Mahar will receive a $500 scholarship. Third place winner, Armando Almazon will receive a $250 scholarship.

Maverick, Isabella, and Armando showed a passion for the pursuit of justice, provided evidence for the injustices they identified and solutions that suggest a real commitment to change the system. We were delighted that so many applicants pushed their thinking into areas not previously examined and proposed proactive solutions. We congratulate all who entered. At MLG, we believe that education is the cornerstone of success. In that regard, we want to help support high school seniors with their quest to better themselves and brighten their future. We are proud to partner with high schools throughout Orange County to provide assistance to select individuals who have demonstrated a curiosity for learning and a zest for life.


  • All high school seniors residing in Orange County, CA
  • Must be planning on attending an accredited university or community college in the U.S.

How to Apply:

  • Submit a 750-word essay answering the following question: If you could change one thing with the justice system, what would it be and how would you change it?
  • Send all submissions to

Financial Award:

  • 1st Place – $1,000, lunch with MLG principal Jonathan Michaels, one-year mentorship with Jonathan Michaels, and attend a civil jury trial
  • 2nd Place – $500
  • 3rd Place – $250
  • Scholarships are to be used exclusively for school, books or room and board
  • All payments will be made payable to the college or university in which the applicant enrolls
  • Acceptance letter by the applicant’s college or university required before payment will be made
